YouTube is a unique platform that serves as both a social network and a video streaming service. It competes with platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Netflix, and Disney+. In recent years, YouTube has expanded the types of content it offers to compete with other streaming platforms and television. In the US, YouTube offers its YouTube TV service, a paid subscription that gives access to TV channels. Additionally, YouTube is testing a new feature called FAST, which stands for “Free streaming television supported by advertising”, which could launch on its platform in the future. This would put YouTube in direct competition with Pluto TV, Tubi, and Roku, and may also affect giants like Netflix and Disney. Additionally, YouTube has also started broadcasting live sports, such as NFL games, in the US.
